Children’s Allergy Cambridge Director – Consultant Paediatric Allergist

Children’s Allergy Cambridge provides expert diagnosis, testing and management of childhood allergies in a supportive environment. Led by Dr. Gary Stiefel, a GMC-registered Consultant Paediatric Allergist, the aim is to help families understand triggers and manage allergies safely.

Dr. Gary Stiefel has been a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust since 2012. He is the current lead for the Childrens’ allergy service. It is one of the largest clinics in the UK and offers a comprehensive service.

Gary undertook his medical training at the University of Birmingham and in 2012 completed specialist training in Paediatric Allergy. During his training he worked at both St Mary’s Hospital, London and University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust and also completed an Allergy MSc at Imperial College London.

Gary was the lead author for the BSACI national guidelines on nut allergy and was involved in changing the legislation allowing schools to be able to hold generic Adrenaline Autoinjectors alongside Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis UK.

In 2020 he led a national British Paediatric Surveillance Unit (BPSU) RCPCH study into FPIES. He is actively involved in peanut desensitisation studies and currently recruiting patients for The Natasha Clinical Trial offering milk and peanut oral immunotherapy.

Gary is a member of the BSACI (British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) and the EAACI (European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology).
